What is consider " Land Use " based taxes ? And what is seed stock cattle and why is there more risk involved with them ? And why would there be more profit to be made off of them ?

Can't help you with the "Land Use" based taxes, but seed stock are animals that are used for a highly refined, specific type of breeding program. They are usually registered and come with complete records as to birth weight, weaning weight, adjusted 205 day weight, vaccinations, health records, etc. They are sold via private treaty or at special production sales, and are expected to produce a certain type of calf for people who want to achieve a specific goal with their operations - I think club calves come in here somewhere, but I'm not sure. More profit is made because they are used specifically to further a herd, because they are usually outstanding cattle, because they are sold private treaty, and because the bloodlines and history are known and documented.

In some operations, yes that could be true, but the majority of seed stock producers breed their animals with an eye to improving the breed, breeding out faults while emphasizing strengths, and usually have really exceptional cattle.

The Land use based taxes is the rate your real estate taxes are based on. Something like this. Commercial, second home, recreational, consevation, Homestead, and usually lowest rate is agriculture. A lot of poeple work at getting this ag based taxes. In most farm states even the farm taxes are tax deductable, and in desaster type years even refundable.
