The litter layer, if it gets going good, will spread the fire pretty handily even if the brush above it is green.Some of the new locals were pretty worried today when the sky filled with dark brown plumes of smoke till I explained the Tx Forest Service was doing a prescribed/controlled burn right up the road in the National Forest. They do it to try to keep underbrush burned out. Just 1200 ac this time.
It's so wet and green right now I don't know how they got much to burn especially considering there was no or little wind.
