Dun.. that study was revisited recently, but I can't remember where I read about it. Same results.. no significant difference between dipped and not dipped.

With Brahman and Brahman influenced cattle having the cows calve in a pasture as opposed to a yucky barn is good prevention. If anyone is going to get an infected navel, it would be one with that influence.

makes me curious, what is the differnce in dipping and spraying the navel if you spray it real well?

I couldn't find current info, but I have read in the past that studies have been done comparing dipping and spraying navals. Dipping got into all the crevices and won hands down over spraying. I think it's too easy to miss a spot if spraying.
