Huge area so likely anywhere in 4 counties. Lot of big hogs along the red river I know

I had guys wanting us to enter it from here. I think you just had to hunt in Texas if I remember right. It's like a month long or some thing isn't it?

I remember it was like 7-8 hrs for us just to go weigh a hog in. lol

It’s a big deal no doubt. Did you check out the different categories for winners? Would you knife a hog with those snappers?

All dogs. Its more sketchy baying and shooting than with a knife, imo. When you have a knife you have catch dogs and they usually have the pigs attention.

Those 300+ hogs are just flat out strong and can be hard to "man handle" but they are slower and not as agile. Those smaller pigs like in my top pic that are 150ish with the shanks are the ones you have to watch. They can spin and move and cause a lot of problems.

I don't know about the Red River north of Wise County but on the Red up north, @ Lamar, Bowie, and Red River Counties (N of Paris Tx), the bottom is thicket and the hogs are thick as thieves..

I about fell out when friends who participate shared that info. No wonder they're out hunting most every night in February .

I will be at the feed mill that sells them this week and find out they said it is safe for any animal that chews a cod like cows and deer but will kill a hog and did not want to let a horse have it

I hate to blow the secret bit it's like cattle or any thing else. Once you learn how they act and move you can handle them.

I have a pic of a #403 boar hog we killed with dogs. Still the biggest hog we have killed. He was in-tact and just out on pasture. He was just big, not fat. Had that Russian board look, not these fat domestic looking pigs.

it seems to me that the hogs that are feral for a few generations start getting a far different look than domesticated hogs, maybe there's enough wild hog crosses out there to influence it but it looks like the "look" would weaken and not stay prevalent

Where at in Canada? Much of Canada gets snow but not much more than someplace like ohio or Indiana.

I just found an article where one was shot in Weyakwin, Sk in the boreal forest. What I can find on Google that area gets around 30" of snowfall a season. We got that much last week here. Ha
