How much can I expect...

Hello,

I have a nice Dexter bull (I have pictures elsewhere on this site) that I am thinking of taking to the sale barn. He is right around 1100lbs. What can I expect to get for him at the sale?

I a normal bull should bring around 2000. I think you should expect 1200 to 1500

Yes sir depending on how your market likes the mini breeds. Where I sell they usually take a good hit and then some days they don't.

For dexters I would bet that you would get 50-60% of the average price of cattle. Dexters always seem to hit a regular auction. You would probably be better to try and sell privately or have the bull butchered and sell it as ground beef. That was my experience with Dexters I guess I have been selling them for about 10 years now.

A buddy of mine had a few and always made a killing selling them private treaty. I was constantly shocked at the prices he would receive.
