House Update

if you dont insulate your interior walls it cost more to heat an cool the house.plus it does provide some sound barrer.

Mainly sound barrier. Sure has made a difference.

Got the last of the chinking done around that window in the stairway. Got the handles put on it today too. Have 1 full bundle of Roxul left.

Just taking a break for the moment. Then I am off to put up what Roxul I have left.

Have to order 2 (5) gallon buckets of stain tomorrow too.

Stained my 2 exterior doors a natural pecan color. Looks really neat now. Will have to get some pictures taken and posted.

Makes sense, particularly if you have youngsters running around. What cover coat did you choose for the pecan color?

The exterior doors are fiberglass si I just put some stain on them.
Thought about polyurathaning them though.

The interior doors I plan to get some knotty alder doors and either leave then natural and just poly them or pick a stain.

Hubby is going to put in the exterior outlets on the house. I went in and asked about ordering the house stain. Suppose to hear from them today.

Went into town yesterday and picked up the stain. While at the store they had some kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities on sale. They were either a misorder or had some small damage done to them. I got a vanity with top for $250.00! Normally it cost $950.00!
It has a small chip out of the very bottom on the front. I have some wood putty that is very similar in this color.
So that takes care of the kid's bathroom for a vanity.

Now to find the one for our bathroom!

Hubby got the vapor barrier seams in the ceiling taped and picked up the sheet rock lift a friend is loaning us.
He hopes to start putting up the ceiling sheet rock today! :banana: :banana: :banana:

Too bad I work every day til Wednesday or I would be helping him. :(
Once that is done I will start buying the sheet rock for the walls. Need 1 more bundle of Roxul and I should be done!

Hubby got 1/3 of the upstairs ceiling done. He stepped wrong and messed up his left ankle as he was stepping off the ladder.

He stayed off of it for a day and is taking it easy so it is feeling better.
Will try to get get a picture of how it is looking now. Sure is different!

Couldn't you get any longer sheets? You end up with too many butt joints with those small sheets.

Yes we could have gotten longer sheets but then hubby would not have been able to pick them up alone.

I really like the looks of that living room with the wood stove and rocking chair. Should be really cozy with a fire going and the logs surrounding you. Nice work and thanks for the pictures.

What are you doing for the ceiling ? A Nock-Down or any kind of texture ? I would do just a regualr nock-down that way you only have to do that much finishing on the butt joints and the seems.
