Hobbies

what is a hobby. i used to bowl alot in my younger days.i used to play pinball alot.wore 2 or 3 pinball machines.so i guess reg cows are my hobby.

Not being facicous, but cattle are my second hobby. I retire in 4 years, trying to ramp that in to something that will keep me busy when I do retire, is wearing me down. Anything the kids are in to, would be my first hobby.

I suppose singing in a band that was formed about 7 months ago would be my "do something" hobby. Aside from that, I like peace and quiet; sitting on the couch in the evenings with the remote in my hand is extremely relaxing. I was never one who had to keep busy when I had down time. I was never one to ponder how i would keep busy when i retire. Honestly, I probably won't keep busy. Being a teacher, I get summers off, and I've had people ask me in a serious nature, "what do you do all summer?" I look at them with as crazy a look as they give me and think, "as little as I can get by with." I like to let the brain relax and do practically nothing. I've found very few things in life that beat peace and quiet.

My main hobby these days is learning to shark fish. I use to do it in my teens/early 20's then got busy with life. Still gearing up on the rods/reels learning new techniques, all that good stuff. My wife enjoys the camping on the beach so it's a win/win for us.
Cattle would be my second hobby right now and I hope to move there one day when I retire.
Of course my time card job is my anchor and as crazy as it sounds I enjoy it the most. I work with a great group of people and enjoy doing my job.

I work with cows full time, and most of my hobbies involve cows. I do ride horse and rope a little when I have time but usually the cattle keep me too busy for much else. I enjoy every bit of the time I spend working with cattle so I guess every day feels more like a hobby than a job.

I've got a couple I guess.
Wife and I have 2 kids. Their sports and rodeo activities keep us busy.
I like to hunt and go on a good hunt or 2 every year, and have been to some pretty amazing places with my wife hunting.
I love college football.
While not really obsessed like I was when I College Rodeo'd, I still rope quite a bit and from time to time will sub myself in to compete with our crew in a ranch rodeo.
My wife flips houses a little so that ipso facto becomes my hobby too.
At the end of the day our main hobby is our livelihood, the cattle business. That's the thing about this business, you'd better love it if you're going to do it on a diverse large scale in multiple locations. While it can be profitable and rewarding, it's all encompassing for the entire family, its not a job, it defines who you are.

My main hobby appears to be wasting (oops, I mean spending) time on CT. :D
I like to hike and get out into wilderness for at least a couple weeks every year or I go nuts.
I serve with a local nonprofit group trying to clean up (demolish or repair) the dilapidated houses and buildings that plague our otherwise-gorgeous area.
I'm taking a break from it right now but have spent 20 years or so as a volunteer advocate for children who are abused/neglected.
I'd like to say I'm learning to play guitar but it's more like I feel guilty that my guitar (b-day present from spouse a year ago) is sitting in the corner looking at me reproachfully.
Am (excruciatingly slowly) rehabbing a house for rental and I usually take 1 class each semester (usually science-related) just to keep the brain working.
Then there's the job that pays the bills, and the cows that spend the above.

I forgot Bees....just getting into that but i do plan to take it a bit further than a hobby. Anyone else have bees?

I like to build furniture. Don't have the time or space to do as much as I want.

Nice, we have a few projects in the works.... Just finished our wood shop where we can go from tree to finished product.

LRTX, do you have a planner that wide? Nice table. I just found a saw mill close to home and I have many fairly large cedar trees that I would like to get milled. Maybe a project in cedar in the future.
