My little hide out in the bush. Have been here since 1 March. Our lock-down ends on 16 April(it may be extended). Been reading, renovating, gardening, cooking, walking, swimming and thinking and thinking. Have not yet run out of supplies but I'm sure I will. Beautiful evening here, almost full moon...can't believe there is so much suffering going on in the world right now.






Where are you at this moment...have you gone into isolation or are you working(essential services)?

I’ve been staying at home for the most part. I’ve been to the grocery a couple of times. Our churches have been asked to not congregate, so we cancelled until further notice.

Pretty much confined to quarters here. Made one trip to town but just rode around and then came back home. No church services anywhere, restaurants have carry out with many meeting you outside to give you your phone order, Streets are basically bare.

I am an essential service so I have been going in. I am staggering my staff so very few people in the office at one time.

Had drive up
Had the “pulpit” on a 30’ flatbed with a tent awning over the electrical equipment.
Parking lot was packed with no room left and parking on the grass between the parking lot and highway.

Pretty much business as usual. We've had a few jobs lost and a few setback. The boys are still working everyday. Just not all riding in the same truck.
Once I see them off in the morning I mostly go to hobby ranching. I ride round in my doolly pickup and "check cows". Make sure the grass is growing. Sometimes I spot a weed and then it's time to hook up the sprayer....

Been cleaning a acre of mud off the tractors and smoothing out ruts.cleaned out the hay shed ..cleaning winter mess around the chute and corral and working a few head..and praying for a good year.

things are as usual here, it's coming to the end of my natural quarantine (calving time).. did a quick trip to town last monday, that's about it.. skipped my usual friday beers with a friend, he has a paralyzed diaphragm so he's high risk.. probably won't go to town tomorrow, no good reason to... I do have to go pick up my new bull at some point, he passed his BSE, he's halter broke.. look forward to him!

Calving, so not much has changed (only 6 to go!). Lucky if I make it into town once a week without a pandemic; as of now it's been 2 weeks & we're out of milk, perishables, Hubby's RX, etc so I'll have to trek in at some point in time. Only one confirmed case in our county so far. That said, a lot of people have asked permission to fish the watershed - evidently the meat cases at the stores are empty - but we're following the 6 ft. rule when they stop by the house. Hubby is at high risk, I'm the "canary in the mine".

That's a nice house there Alison and well kept lawn. Not what I pictured a SA house to look like but looks very nice and a nice refuge.

Business pretty much as usual. I cut my shopping down to once a week but have been going into the servo almost daily for diesel for the dozer and excavator as I have been clearing 12 acres of scrub. Just finished raking it and going in today to bore the holes for the end assembly's so I can fence it and plant some oats.

Pretty much same old same old here. Me and my wife both have essential jobs so we both are blessed with plenty of work. A lot of people around here have been laid off there jobs and a lot of small businesses have slowed way down wondering how there going to pay there bills.

Guess I could have milked out the mastitis cow when she was in the chute. :drink:

Canceled visits to see the grandkids and visitors coming here. No church on Sunday morning. They are doing on line services. Other than that it is life as normal. A trip to town once a week or every other week. I have been to 5 brandings in the last 10 days or so. It is that time of the year. But that is a bunch of local ranchers who don't go to town anymore than I do. No outsiders allowed. And we are pretty much social distancing while doing that. Normal life here is a hide out. It is 5 miles to the post office. There is 7 people living between here and there. Our post office serves 130 people. That is every man, woman, and child within a 15 mile radius.

Our area has more people, but I lived in a neighboring town that had a total of about that many people including the area it served!

No hogs but if I run out of food there is a river just down from here...not much of a fisherlady though :)

Thanks Ken, it keeps me busy. Right now the lawn is full of leaves, wind blew here most of the day. A typical autumn day which I'm sure you are seeing too :D
