1. MYTTY IN FOCUS has a Calving Ease Direct CED of +14 with a BW of -1.3 --what more could you ask for??? accuracies also in the 95-98% RANGE
OUR 2008 MYTTY CALVES AVG WEANING WEIGHTS WERE BULLS> 730 / HEIFERS 680
YEARLING WEIGHTS ON MYTTY BULLS HAVE BEEN IN THE 12'S ON FORAGE BASED MGMT

ALSO BON VIEW NEW DESIGN 1407 LEADS THE WAY IN CED ALSO

I know most of you use calve ease bulls BUT does this affect the pelvis area in those resulting heifers?

I believe it does.

Continuous selection for low BW without closely watching pelvic area and selecting for it is a train wreck waiting to happen. I knew an AI tech that said he worked for a ranch with a breed known for its low BW bulls, and they selected so exclusively for low BW until they were pulling 60# calves from heifers with too small pelvic areas.

If you don't use it you lose it. I don't push heavy birth weights but don't use light weights. i like the middle of the road.

That is what I say. What is wrong with average. I realize we need low birth weight to bring the big birth weight calves down. But getting into the Neg numbers I think is excessive. I did A-I to Tradition this year and his B.W. is neg but that was just because he was cheap to use. I just used him on the cross bred cows and dont plan on keeping anything out of them unless they are really good.
