Are you seeing anything like this?
Yep, looks pretty fruitful if a man hedged his bet. I'm gonna wait to try them again til spring so I can supplement feed with grass. Those big boys can eat.

I tried a winter "stocker" program based on alfalfa hay. The cattle looked great but ADG was less than a lb per day.
I am trying to quit corn silage, but grazing standing corn would pencil out this winter.

My favorite Bud sell/buy example was buying fleshy calves, putting them on winter range, and making money on the trade even though the calves lost weight.

Heavier calves sold for as much or more than lighter weights the past 2 weeks here. There were steers from 1.00 to 1.50 yesterday for the 350-500 weights, all over the place. Heifers were down from the week before but some were in the 1.00 range; most were in the 85 to 95 range. Things should be a little slower for the 2 weeks of rifle season, if it follows previous patterns....
