It seems common place for calves to come on a weekend especially if there are complications. This one came fine and on a holiday. I thought I might name him America but apparently there is a bull named that already. Maybe America 2021. He is out of our favorite cow, that my wife named Ol Spot Nose. A Beefmaster cow has always weaned off one of the heaviest calves each year. Last year we debated culling her after weaning her calf as she is a heavy milker and has an udder about like a dairy cow. She bred back and we decided to watch her close and get one more calf from her. Have already given the calf colostrum and will try to milk her down some this afternoon and try to get the calf to nurse. It may be a fiasco as she gets hotter than a 2 dollar pistol in the chute. So far so good she let us move her and the calf into a closer lot by virtue of her being food motivated like our Heeler. 6D5019A2-EBD9-4772-B3AE-F2259D8976AB.jpeg
