specifically which places have several hundred head of miniature herefords. do they also have mini emus.

I've already provided you with this info. If you had bothered to look up the web sites, you'd know this information.

Point of Rocks Ranch, located in Fort Davis, Texas. Owned and operated by the Largent Family.

 I don't believe they raise any emus, but they have been raising miniature herefords on this ranch since 1969.

If there are grants available, someone is going to take them. Someone is going to get this money. Why not Earl? This money will get spent.

According to that logic Earl could justify robbing banks. Somebody's going to do it. Why not Earl? Or you or me? No harm done, it was going to happen anyway.

Who defines "legitimate agricultural enterprise"? Who are you to say that Dexter cattle are not legitimate?

That's easy. A "legitimate agricultural enterprise" can be defined a couple of different ways. First, it would be an enterprise that was designed to make a profit. And/or, it would be an enterprise where the person hoping for reward is the same person bearing the risk.

Craig, you're using a lack of logic here. Robbing banks is illegal. I'm not going to continue arguing this topic with you. I will respectfully just disagree with you.

Regarding the profitability of Earl's enterprise. I must have missed it somewhere. I did not see or read his business plan. Don't know what his plan is.

The logic might not technically hold up from a legal standpoint. Regardless, somebody who gets a grant to capitalize a business is still accepting money that was previously taken from somebody else – against their will. Lots of things are perfectly legal that aren't necessarily good or right.

I see your point. I don't enjoy paying taxes either. Grant availability can be stopped by the legislature (The folks we elected to take our money and spend it). Looks like Pres. Bush's new budget proposal is certainly going to eliminate a significant amount of what has bee referred to as "ag welfare". I'm sure a lot of the Grants will be eliminated too.

This thread reminds me of being a kid in grammar school!

Whenever you heard "fight, fight, fight!" being chanted you know something was worth watching and all the kids would gather around, and...

Well, it's nice that we are bieng grown-ups and "discussing" our differences of opinion. Just thinking.
