Free Grants

Has anyone on this forum ever received a free grant, you see ads advertising free gov. grants for agriculture operations , schooling etc. but when you get to the end of the application it asks for money and they will sent you the information on how to get a free grant, this appears to be a rip off, because I have found there is nothing free in life , you have to work for it.

you might look into USDA Rural Development. there are value-added producer grants available - although most of the USDA grants are attached to a mandatory cost share loan.

some people around here have gotten grants to install pivots to irrigate their fields but in turn the government takes all your water rights minus what it takes to run the pivot. like you said, free but not free

If you want to look around at what the government has to offer in the way of grants, go to grants.gov and type in your area of interest.

Yes, I applied and received a grant from SARE to do some fencing of a riparian area for managed grazing.
