 Checked the cattle this am, found an 800 lb steer
graveyard dead!
No apparent reason, I am taking him to the diagnostic lab
tomorrow. He is frozen and in the bed of my truck. I will
post the results of the post! ( no pun intended!)
What a shame---- one of my nicest steers. :x

I am so sorry. :( Two years ago we had a cow give birth to a stillborn calf. We buried it and the cow was looking for it. It was so sad. I get upset when I think about it. Last year, though, the same cow gave birth to a healthy little bull.

Death rate is approx. 100%. Usually the youngest fastest growing between 6 mo. and 2 yrs. Usually an outbreak occurs in the warmer months between spring and fall. Little or no value comes of treatment when they are sick, but a few early cases may respond to antibiotics such as tetracyclines or penicillin.

:p Got him to the lab- his legs were sticking up in the air--
people were doing double takes! Should have report by weeks end. He had been vaccinated for everything.
$50.00 for post and disposal.

Done up and Fell Over Dead.

We used to have a veterinarian who call this
"post-winter syndrom". I like your version best.

$50 for post and disposal? That's pretty good. Here it's $30 for disposal in and of itself.

And yes, please, let us know what the post tells ya'.

Steer had a diseased liver and was toxic. He never looked
ill. At least it was not some horrible disease!
