So u guys think I would be crazy to try to put up 20 acres of grass hay with the old sickle mower? Hasn't been used since 2011. I need to get hay up and its paid for. hate to try and find something right now.

No, If weather is favorable its only gonna take a little extra time to cut it. I actually like the way sickle mower cuts.

I like sickle mowers and really IMO sickle mower goes almost the same speed as my haybine with a sickle bar so I don't see a problem with it.

I have a disc mower and a sickle. Both 7 foot. The sickle and the disc run a close race. The sickle will win in Bahia. The sickle also wins in lower repair costs and fuel efficiency.
Used sickles are so cheep now you could afford to have a few of them for back up vs. the cost of a used disc.
The disc wins in ant hills and gopher mounds as long as there dry. In wet black dirt or clay I sure get tired of stopping every few minutes to clean the mud off the bottom of the disc mower.
