Fly tag removal

Can I cut these tags off with a pair of dikes or should I buy one of those tag removal tools?

tag removers are cheap and easy to use on a moving head

Dykes will work, but I agree that the tag removal tools are a lot easier and quicker

What are dykes? (in this sense of the word)

I use side cutter pliers. I put one tag in backward on a heifer that'll probably be a replacement, so once it's all healed nicely I'll cut it off and put it on the right way... I had a DOH! moment... I realized it an ohnosecond too late!

Also called, side cutters, diagonal cutters, dyekes, and probably a dozen other things.

Get the tool, they are very simple to use and make quick work of things. They'll give you a bunch of them when you buy the new tags.

Another vote for the tag removal tool. They make an excellent castrator too.

Just don't put the fly tags on in the first place I tried those things several times and couldn't tell any difference
