Five dead in farming accident

Help Support CattleToday:

When we lived in Illinois there were two or three farmers that got killed filling a silo with corn. Buried in the silo.. horrible thing.

Sorry to hear about this. It happens time and time again aboard ships. One guy goes in a tank and falls down. Another guy goes to try and help, he goes down, etc. A few years ago a ship full of lumber from Central America sailed to the US. Upon arrival, the Ch. Officer goes to inspect the holds and does not return. The Captain goes looking for him, and does not return. And the list went on. Don't know the actual numbers but when kept in an enclosed space, lumber depletes the atmosphere of oxygen. All were deprived of oxygen, DOA.

"Confined Spaces", regardless of the environment are all potentially lethal. The silent killers: Methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide. Any "space", above or underground, that does not have a continuing supply of fresh oxygen will kill.

Then, of course, there are those obvious hazards of "contact" with toxic substances that come in contact with the skin... or worse, if you get submerged in them...
