fertilizer on king ranch bluestem

Seems like I've heard it doesn't respond much to fertilizer. Does anyone fertilizer their Kr. Is it worth the investment?

I have taken left over fertilizer after doing a hay field and ran it over KR. I couldn't tell the difference. Same thing if you have a little patch of it in a hay field. Looks the same as the pasture IMO but I have never done any thing other than an eye test on it.
