I have never heard of feeding based on time to eat. We always fed based on size. I know dairy farms feed based on milk, cycle etc. I have also had to feed cattle seperate from the herd because they were slow eaters and would not get their share so....I am not sure how time based feeding would work.

Feeding by age works well too. The older cows with few teeth eat slower so are better off a bunch in a group and younger cows eat too fast sometimes. (our heifers eat DDG's so fast they puke them up)
