I have a heifer that has continuously had drainage from both eyes. If has been very little until recently. Now it is very noticeable. Should I give an antibiotic? She weights about ~500 lbs. and is a crossbreed with limousine.

Could be pink-eye, could be dust irritation, could be smoke irritation if you're near the fires, could be a lot of things. I would find out what it is before I administered any antibiotics. Just my thoughts.

She has always had some drainage but now it is very noticeable. We have had no fires. Dust I would say is minimal. Seems like allergies? Thanks for the brainstorm.....

Does she squint or close her eyes when she is in the sun? Have you noticed any blue spots in her eyes? Is the white part of her eye pink or red?

I have not noticed her squinting into the sun nor have I noticed any blue spots nor pink or red in her eye.

is it just tearing drainage, or is it the greenish gunk?
