US Drought Monitor (for our area) and KWTX-TV say the drought is over.

Unfertilized pastures are making about 3 5x5 an acre, meadows a little more....l It is a little weedy but the cows will have plenty of time to pick through it when it's fed. Already have 3 rolls a cow in the barns and not quite 1/3 of the way through first cutting. I think the haygrazer grew a foot yesterday... :D

Drought may be over but the long term effects of it aren;t

It will take 200 years to replace these 200 year old trees that died everywhere.

A huge clump of live oaks died on my 3 acre lot adjacent to the house . They were the only significant trees on that lot. Every one of those trees in that grove died. These all survived the old wilt. Now they are gone.

Haven't cut any hay yet . I put out fertilizer yesterday . Bermuda is about 8 inches tall and as thick as carpet . 28 days I should have most of my hay in the barn .

My pond is already down 2". We've only had 7" so far this year and it's the rainny season. At least it's a good time to sell, taking another load in Tuesday. I am not going to by hay this summer.

I just rented 80 acres. I'm gonna split the home heard up and send half to the new place. If it starts raining I'll get a few more but not too many. We may have gotten ten inches. Most of that was January and February, and as soon as my rye grass was ready for the cows the rain stopped :bang: .

A month or so ago we got four inches in one rain event. I had hopes this would break the back of the drought cycle for us but in the back of my mind I figured this was just a pipe dream. Its bone dry here. I'm glad I made the decision I did to reduce my herd. Still haven't finished reducing them to my target but I'm glad I am where I am cause I still have plenty of grass even though it hasn't grown any in weeks and I'm not stressing one bit.
