The Mods and Macon has let a lot of stuff go for quit a while, but everyone needs to know or remember folks from the north, northwest, California, south, east coast, Canada, S Africa, England, the Bible Belt may not see things as exact as some others do. There was a lot said but I did not think it was a lot about "politics and religion" most had to do with the confederate flag and what it stood for or did not stand for and about the freedoms we are loosing as Americans. But there again maybe I missed something that was said ,I don't spend every hour of the day reading these post.
I see people on here all the time complaining about EPA regs. and its let go on that should fall under "politics" if this did

All well and good, but the point is that they don't for everyone, and why do many of those who do care about them hate or even become "offended by" those who don't?

I didn't get offended by what you believe or don't believe. That's your business not mine. I'm offended that you compare Christians to Muslims. They hate and show it by their actions. True Christians do not hate. You can be against someone's actions without hating them. I know you don't understand that because you can't. So you insinuate that my religion, which you know nothing about is a religion of hate and don't give me the old my neighbor is a Christian and he's a bad person story either. There are plenty of people who claim to be Christian but they're really not. Then you claim that our scripture is made up by a unknown author. If that's what you want to belive that's fine but it doesn't offend me in the least that you believe it. But you say we are haters because we don't believe homosexuality is right and you don't like our religion so that must make you a hater. Does it offend you that I call you a hater. You probably live by the code that we're all supposed to be tolerant. Well where is your tolerance? No your kind thinks that tolerance only applies to people of faith. We're supposed to lay aside our deep felt religious beliefs as Obama said the other night and think the way you and him say we should. IMO, the Bash Board has the fewest rules of any site I visit. Very similar site setup to this place. I don't know of any political/religious topic that is off limits at the Bash. The Bash is pretty much designed for cussin' and discussin', but is definitely NOT for those easily offended by coarse language or various levels of feminine nudity :o

I apologize to anyone who feels I started this thread to bytch about threads going poof. Not my intention. No disrespect meant to the Mods or Macon. Was si.ply disappointed because I enjoy the education, intellectual stimulation, and discussions that were occurring. I think my frustration stemmed from 'the rules'. The rules aren't overly clear about what's ok and truly forbidden. Just says politics (vague) and use appropriate language and be respectful to one another. And that could very well be the Mods intent; limited rules. I appreciate that. I am inclined to agree with BRYANT, don't read about the stuff you don't want to. There are plenty of discussions I ignore on here at times. Clearly, based off the number of views of the thread, there were many, many people checking in on it- and rightfully so. It was interesting. The rules actually don't say anything about discussing religion, race, history or any other controversial topics(save politics) that I can find. It says be mindful, kids at the table..well, I discuss these things with my children-gay marriage, racial, social, civil unrest, history, economic and world events. We also discuss livestock too.

I enjoy the folks on this board. So many intelligent, educated, passionate people..it's powerful to read varying thoughts on topics, and the links that folks contribute on some of these topics are fantastic..and I would never find them on my own..wide variety of inputs from all over the place. Wasn't trying to bytch, just putting it out there that there was value in it.
