Threads are dropping like flies! What gives? Some of these threads were 12 pages long and had been quite heated early on? What gives now? Real life topics, opportunities to learn, discuss, dialogue. The rules for the board say be kind, watch your mouth, and watch politics. Didn't feel like it was political a la Libs vs. conserves. Religious topics dumped, flags, homosexuals, etc.

Disappointed.

I have as strong opinions on some subjects as anyone, but I'm floored at the amount of hate and venom that comes from some people on these boards against people or issues that don't harm them or others in the least. I'm actually surprised that some of the threads are allowed to continue for as long as they do.

It's one thing to hate someone or their way of life when they behead innocent people, burn down a city, or suck our prosperity by leaching off of the taxes which we work hard to pay, but others who simply believe something different, or live strange lives that some anonymous scribe wrote was wrong 1500 years ago and proclaimed his writing to have some mystical powers? I just don't get it.

I'm surprised the threads lasted as long as they did. It's a shame that there gone because there was a lot of good history covered in them. TB and CB know a lot about the history of this country, they my not agree very often but I do enjoy reading their post.

I didn't read anything in the other threads anymore offensive than this. As a matter of fact this the most offensive thing I've ever read on CT.

It will be ok Luca. The ones of us who do get it find the mystical powers work well for us.
All well and good, but the point is that they don't for everyone, and why do many of those who do care about them hate or even become "offended by" those who don't?

The difference between those who do and those who don't, is that those who don't, don't care that you do, unless you start telling them that they should.

This was not a debate. This was an argument about history....all were welcome to join in....just disappeared. I was offline working on a good comeback for Dash.

I know pretty much what was deleted, close enough anyway. Maybe the deleted post about "who does God love more?" And the rebirth and quick second deletion of the same exact thread irritated Macon and the Mods...... Give em enough rope.......

Couldn't agree more. Not matter which side you are inclined to favor, almost always very intelligent discussion when they contribute. Always makes me feel like a young man at the feed store, listening to the wise ones hash topics out. Most of those guys have forgotten more than I will prolly ever know. Guess that's one of the reasons I enjoyed these threads...intelligent folks discussing relevant topics......for the most part.

Thanks Alan. I think I follow.
Basically, standard rules apply...don't discuss anything controversial: politics, religion, race, etc?

That's where I think I'm off base. My expectations of coffee shop discussions are on the fringe of what is acceptable.

I think I got it now, basically, as far as topics go, nothing too heavy.

Thanks.

After all this is the "Coffee Shop" and I thought it was about like what you would hear from a group of people sitting around the coffee shop talking about the news of the day. Some of what was said I agreed with and some I did not. but some one over this site thinks like most of the world today that a good debate is some how bad, or maybe there was to much being said that they did not agree with ???So they just deleted 13 pages of conversation about the daily things in the news. Why do some topics get locked and that got deleted ????

I didn't get offended by what you believe or don't believe. That's your business not mine. I'm offended that you compare Christians to Muslims. They hate and show it by their actions. True Christians do not hate. You can be against someone's actions without hating them. I know you don't understand that because you can't. So you insinuate that my religion, which you know nothing about is a religion of hate and don't give me the old my neighbor is a Christian and he's a bad person story either. There are plenty of people who claim to be Christian but they're really not. Then you claim that our scripture is made up by a unknown author. If that's what you want to belive that's fine but it doesn't offend me in the least that you believe it. But you say we are haters because we don't believe homosexuality is right and you don't like our religion so that must make you a hater. Does it offend you that I call you a hater. You probably live by the code that we're all supposed to be tolerant. Well where is your tolerance? No your kind thinks that tolerance only applies to people of faith. We're supposed to lay aside our deep felt religious beliefs as Obama said the other night and think the way you and him say we should. Well for right now we still have the freedom of religion in this country. But if you tolerant people can have your way we won't much longer. So yes you offend me. Liberty is dieing and people like you are killing it in the name of tolerance.

It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains.
Patrick Henry

When daily happenings are too controversial of topics for the coffee shop, maybe thats a clue about our current society.

Maybe it's the society that needs deleted so the threads would be acceptable.
