cow dies

I bought a cow and calf at auction. One week later the cow dies. I the morning I notice white foam coming from the cows tear ducts. That evening the cow was dead. Does anyone know what might have been the cause?

Personally, I doubt that the foam coming from the tear ducts was any indication of what the cow died from.

Only one way to know for sure...have the cow posted.

A steer of ours was found dead yesterday. Was seemingly healthy, but had pink/bloody froth coming from nose and mouth. Can't rule out gunshot but no other obvious signs of this. Vet suggested black leg?? Any clues??
