I'm about to put a feed bin in for limit feeding. Looking at the 5 square bins from the Coop and I know a few of you have them. Are they adequate? Should I be looking at an upright bin with an auger instead?

Any idea what a 5 ton bin with auger would cost?

Thanks

I have one on a leased farm. Sometimes I have to climb up on it and push some feed down if it gets stuck. It's good for if you might need to move it to a different farm at some point. If I were setting up something permanent at my own place to feed a lot of head I'd go with larger upright bins. Overall I'm pretty happy with it.

I have a 5 ton bin from CO-OP and like it. As other have said the last little bit sticks but nothing too bad. I would buy another if I needed one.

I have a 4 and 3 ton bin with flex augers, very good investment. They're on timers so I never have to carry feed. 30 ft of auger, pipe, motor and gear I think was just over 1000.00. Farmer Boy Inc. in PA is where I got mine.

Got both my bins for 800.00
You can find them on craigslist, Lancaster farmer and even ebay has them.
