I'm looking for a stake and 50' rope to tether our family cow. She'll be able to have shade and water and not get tied up. I've looked at most livestock catalogs online and can't find the one I saw about a month ago. Would a regular dog stake and thick nylon rope attached to her halter with a swivel work?P.S. Thanks Dun for the advice on her estrus cycle.

If she's properly broke to being tied up nearly anything will work to restrain her. We prefer a dog chain with snaps at both ends. You can snap the none-cow end back on itself and drop it over anything handy to act as a restraint, i.e. tree, t-post, heavy rock, truck bumper, whatever.
