I'm located in North Mississippi, I'm a cow/calf operator. I assume (I know what you get when you ass-u-me something) we are all in the cattle business for the same reasons, to make money and we love it.
Ok, that being said, what are the average cow/calf prices in your area. At times some of yall post prices that I find incredible! I wish we had prices like that, but I assume (there I go again) that up north it cost more to raise a pound of beef(more hay, winter pasture and such). Where I live, good grass, good water, and salt/minerals, hay in the winter is really all you need and we get plenty of rain normally, and most of our natural grass is bermuda and fescue.
Talked to the person that I buy and sell to today, 5 year old bred cow-$1,500, 4 years ago I paid $850 for same type of cow. 500- 600 lb calf, bull, steer, or heifer, $750-$800.
I am very pleased for the prices that we are getting here, just curious to see the prices yall are getting.
