Have you ever used any of these kind of programs? Like getting a drought check from the ASCS office to compensate for the effects on cattle? Or CRP checks. IMO, these are the same category of program.
The only program I have used is the CAIP.
Personally no I haven't, but my wife took a drought payment. So that definitely makes me a government teat sucker also. We pay more in taxes than I think we'd ever get back in subsidies. I know a couple of my farming buddies get way more in subsidies than they pay in taxes. I see all these farmers driving new trucks, tractors and living in big house's all while getting government subsidies of one kind or the other. It kind of chaps my lips as a taxpayer, and sometimes makes me want to live like that. But we do alright now and live a decent life, so why should I freeload off the system if I don't have to? I challenge the majority of the people who cost share or take subsidies, to ask that question to themselves. Is it greed? Or just wanting to get your tax dollars back? Or do you feel the government owes you? Or is it because everyone else takes it you might as well? If I needed it or felt like it was owed to me I'd want it.
