Bug identification help needed

These bugs, or beetles, or whateveryouwannacallem, have been living and reproducing and God knows what in this ol' farm house for as long as I can remember. I've never seen them outside, only inside, and whenever we see one around, the first thing we do is kill it. And we call them Black-and-Brown Beetles, but I ain't sure whether that's the REAL name of these critters. They're not big either, only a little less than a half-inch long.

I would sure like to know what these beetles are, if anyone can give me info, a name, stuff like that, would be greatly appretiated.

I thought it was a "click beetle"or a "death watch beetle" the 2nt lives in wood.

My 2 year old granson could take care of them for ya'...he'll holler "bug" and start stomping on anything that resembles a bug. He's such a little boy... :heart:
