A couple of days ago my cattle was pinned up in a muddy corral. And now I am noticing some sores on them. Many tell me it is black leg. But what actually is it caused by. Does the bacteria have a specific name.

It is caused by a bacteria called "CLostridium Chouvoei". It lives in the ground and can stay a long time. Signs are lameness and loss off apetite at first. They usually die. Can be vacinated for using 7 way.
