What are some good ways to feed minerals to cattle? I have bison and I've been told that bison will tear up mineral feeders. What are some alternitives? I'm feeding the Cargill Right Now Minerals.

I use crystalyx tubs. They are spendy, but when I figure the per head per day consumption, it's about $.11. No waste, no mess. I use BGF-30 for protein in the winter, and at calving I put in a crystal phos also as a breeder mineral. I tried free choicing mineral last year and it was a mess, and I have no way to properly mix it in the feed for the old cows with the chuck wagon. http://www.sweetpro.com also has tubs, cheaper, about as good as far as the protien supplement, I don't know about other tubs of theirs tho.
wwwbiozymeinc.com has power kegs from Amaferm.
Crystalyx, In my opinion has priced themselves out of the market here.Try a Fescue, loose mineral, save yourself some $.We quit selling Crystalyx, because of high price, not that it isn't an outstanding product, and because of the deposit on the steel tub,if you feel you must put out a fescue tub, there are alternative brands that do the same thing.I'm not advertising for anyone, but check out Sweetlix. They have a vast array of minerals, that get the job done,We started carrying their products last year, and our tub sales and loose mineral sales have trippled this year. Because of price and proven results. I use them on our cattle, I wont endorse anything unless I've tried it.
The forage supplement 25% I believe it's # 564 will be the closest match.Hope that helps, by the way, Sweetlix is now part of Ridley feeds, which also owns Crystalyx, Ridley is based in Australia.
