haha, probably depends on the animal. We had a heifer last year that we had to feed shortly before going into the ring or she acted crazed. She took champ Hereford female at a county show but proceeded to eat the plants they had in the ring as they were announcing the winner. I couldn't hold her back and I sure wasn't going to bop her with my show stick, haha. At least the judge was a Hereford person and said, "you have to appreciate the foraging ability of Herefords"!

Most of our others were fine to handle whether fed or watered; or not.

It might not be a big difference, but i've noticed some being more relaxed if they've drank recently versus being thirsty. Also, they look better if they've had a good drink.

yeah from my experience they sure do. breaking my calves they have to eat grain and hay before they'll lead. for some reason they have to be as full as they get.
