A few random winter pics.

The first two were taken by our Italian visitor.

Went to cake the bulls trail blown in, so I sent the dogs to bring them from the trees back there some where.

A fitting end to a beautiful day. :D

Man, you look like your living in a storybook with those pics. How far are you from the nearest town or neighbor?

Nice pictures! I got cold just looking at them, and your daughter is running around in a long sleeve shirt. I would need to get decked out like an eskimo just to look out the window up there in your country. I start looking for a jacket when it gets into the 60's here.... :)

Wonderful pictures as always. I really enjoy them but it just ain't right that in all that cold your daughter acts like she is on a beech in Florida. If it were me I would be so bundled up you would think I weighed 400lbs.

Town is only 18 miles (Coronation), nearest neighbor is 2.5 miles, next neighbor is 4 by road. So, not as sparse as it might seem. :cboy:

Her and her Dad had rushed out for the photo op without a coat, it was quite mild out, compared to the -28 the evening before. She still scampered back in after a bit though. :tiphat:

Beautiful girl, beautiful pics. I especially like the one of the barn all lit up. Thx for posting!

good pictures...bought a throw away fuji camera to take pics of our snow we had a couple weeks ago... it was ok for the first couple days, but i got homesick real quick. bring on he heat and humidity :cowboy:

a dumbass question, those muledeer, do they all have short bottom jaws? used to see that in sheep all the time, never paid much attention to deer (not a hunter) but that struck me with those shots.

great pics again,

Nice pictures. You must have some zoom, unless your deer are tamer than ours.

I've got daughters about that age and it appears they all dress the same. :D

Do your dogs know by instinct to retrieve cattle vs taking them away from you? How much training required?

Good question, I must admit I have never paid that much attention, I am not a hunter either. They look the same as all muley's I have seen but there may be some variation. NR would be the one to ask though.

45 zoom on a digital JVC, so yes a better zoom then I have had before.
Regarding the dogs and their instinct in my experience it depends on the dog. Some are more natural drivers, others more retrievers. So natural drivers need more training. My youngest dog has taken a lot of work to get back and stay back but he does it correctly the majority of the time now, there are times though when he sticks on the front. For me the majority of the time to be helpful I want my dogs retrirving. My older dogs will go up to a mile to find and bring cattle. But when I want them to drive I expext them to do that also. The best dogs will do retrieve, drive, and cross drive both directions. Getting natural retrivers to drive can be just as difficult or more.

As far as I know there jaws are no different than a whitetails.

I believe what they are seeing is an optical illusion due to the snow. The fore part of the bottom jaw has some white on it and if you look real close you can see where the black comes down and there is still jaw in front of it.

Those are baby bucks yet they need another two or three years on them yet. I suppose the antelope have pulled out of there by now-try and get some pictures of those big bucks this summer.

Yeah I zoomed in on the phoptos and you are right there is still more jaw ahead of the black, this guy doesn't have the black and you can see his jaw more clearly.
Good eye Jake.

" Optical Illusion" was the first thing that popped into my mind too! But its just a poor view of what really is there.

I knew it was a dumb question  just struck me as funny, took me back to pens of lambs at the perth market with 'soo mooth' (sow mouth) undershot by an inch or two... :)
