One of those days:
On the tractor at 7:00 AM cutting hay while the dew is on it so it cuts easer.
Busted hitch pin on the cutter by 7:30.
Like to never got un hitched so I could ride the tractor home and leave the cutter in the field.
Called and ordered another pin next day air.
Loaded the welder in the pickup
Went to my shop, ground busted pin, and welded back together.
Went to hay field to reinstall pin.
Hit my hand with a 4-pound sledge while driving in repaired pin.
Went to ER, waited and hour and got three stitches.
Got back in the pickup to go finish repairing hay cutter.
In a hurry by now so I slung the welder out in the middle of the road pulling out of the drive.
Walked to the barn and got a chain to drag welder back up in the yard.
Finished fixing cutter.
Got back in tractor and went to hook up the cutter.
I got lucky as the cutter went on easy.
Finished cutting hay. It was still damp at 2:30 due to a cloudy day.
Fluffed hay that got rained on two days ago.
Raked hay.
Started rolling at 6:00 and as soon as I started to roll we got a very light shower.
Kept rolling as the shower only lasted 5 min.
Girlfriend drives up at 7:00 and starts to chew my butt for having my hand bandaged up and rolling hay.
Finished rolling at 7:45
Fed calves and bulls
Fixed a big strong drink
Got my butt chewed out for getting my stitches wet in the shower.
Made another bigger stronger drink.
And that is the last thing I remember till this morning.
Now today I can fluff the hay I cut yesterday if the due dries off.

Sounds like a very rough day.

You might or might not tell your girl friend she should be glad you took the shower!!

At least you went to the doc to get stitches. She should have been pleased with that.

You know that is what I told her.
I let her put the new bandage on it and that made her feel better.

Man, sounds like the kind of days I have. It seems I always spend more time fixing equipment or myself than doing what I started to do.

Stitches.....ran out of duct tape, did ya?

Easy day here...only a bee sting...where were the darn bees early in the season when the garden was blooming?
Hope tomorrow is better....Dave Mc

hope you had a better day today, and that the hand is healing, only an hour in the ER your luck the shortest time I have waited was 4 hours.

Just a question wouldn't it be easier to have a spare hitch pin and lynch pins in the tool box on every tractor.
This avoids major frustration and keeps hand away from 4 pound hand held press.

Electrical tape is the key for flesh wounds if you can wrap it around it. Use some prewrap or gauze first to prevent hair loss.

I have extra lynch pins but the hitch pin in the cuter is a special deal with a class 2 on both ends and a fat part in the middle. It is held in place with a roll pin. The tractor hooks to one side and the quick release hooks to the other end.
And yes I know better than to hit my self with a 4-pound sledge.

Sorry you had such a bad week, John.

I guess if you didn't love it, you wouldn't be doing it.

I cut some hay today. First of the YEAR!

Got about a hundred acres to start on Monday.

By the grace of God, I might scrounge up enough.

Mike they are calling for rain the next few days. I got a good shower about dark last night. Did you get any.
Good luck.
