We hauled all the calves off today - 44 head total. It was packed. I think we waited two weeks too long. Grossed about 10k less than I was hoping for. Whoever bought the 14 head of heifers for 1.09 got a smoking deal.

Que Sera Sera.

I've watched the sale numbers for a month now. Two-three weeks ago prices here were good. Last week the prices dropped a bit (2-6- lower except for long weaned) and I think caused a rush to sell this week. Grass has been good this year here and many farmers that would have held onto their calves to gain weight for another month or two were in the same boat we were; calves were already heavy and the cows need a couple of months to rest and grow babies before calving in February.
