2016 New Holland Workmaster 50 soot on hood?

I have owned this since new. I just started to notice black soot on the exhaust side of the hood. No codes are showing. I went to the dealer and talked to the mechanics who told me it was normal. I told them that I never see the green regen light come on or hear it go into "regen" mode. The tractor runs around 2250 most of the time. It runs fine with plenty of power. I can not find where the soot is coming from under the hood. the mechanics tell me that the tractor would shut down if the particulate filter was clogged up. Something is not right. When you use equipment all of the time you get to know it. They also tell me that you can't do a manual "regen" although the book says you can. They just don't tell you how. If anybody has experienced anything similar I sure would like to know what you found out. Thanks for any help. Tractor has about 300 hours on it'

Probably has an exhaust leak.
