    water types, problems

IMO, I think it would take a while for a pond and/or well to pay for itself providing water for only 4 pairs.

    ranch/farm jobs?

It amazes me how many people actually go to church, but don't read their bibles. In the Old Testament, every 7 years creditors had to release their debtors. It sounds like Chapter 7 bankruptcy to me. tncattle, I think its great you want to be out of debt.

Daughter with money burning a hole in her pocket

If she really wants to bank money for college, I would put the money in a good growth mutual fund, one with a 10% avg. rate of return for the past 10 years.

    Brahman influenced steers

Brahman influenced steers typically get docked at the sale barn. Its hard for me to believe buyers would buy these cattle if they couldn't make money off them. Has anyone fed out Santa Gertrudis x, tigerstripe, Brangus x, etc.? If so, what were the results? What I'm getting at is, if someone...

My dad had a friend that had about 25 cows and didn't own a bull. Every year his cows had calves by the neighbors bull. I never recall him complaining about that bull breeding his cows.

I was working during the time the sale came on, so I recorded it. I looked back over the tape last night. I saw a number of bred, registered cows 3-5 years old that sold between $1500 and $2000. I also saw a reg. bred heifer sell for $26,000. Is is genetics or ranch name that sets the...
