    Scur Heritability

I'm not trying to be mean or disrespectful by saying this. I think his scurs are the least of your worries. He lacks a lot if you are using him in a purebred herd.

    Pinkeye!!!

Try using the "Dry Cow" paste and LA200 combined. The Dry Cow has penicillen in it and it's thicker than penicillen and coats very well....

    eye problem

If he has an infection, you might want to give him some penicillin. I also use the Dry Cow, in the tube, as eye treatment.

    WW Stampeed Squeeze

I have the 2K Self Catch model and was bought pre WW. Have issues with it sqeezing because the ratcheting isn't smooth. Hangs up. I broke the welds on the pipe that is used to sqeeze them. Called WW and they wouldn't do anything about it. It was bought less than 6 months before WW bought...

    Bull breeders: question

My bulls are on feed. Pretty obvious if you've ever looked at the pics I've posted. They are on a high roughage feed and don't get all they can eat. The sales that I consign to like the bulls to be in good shape. When I first started raising purebred cattle, I didn't know much about this...

    Bull breeders: question

Take you grassfed bulls and put them in a pen with bulls that have been grown on a high roughage feed. See which ones sell first. People want to ba able to brag about the animal they just bought. If you bought a new Cadillac, you would tell all your friends about it and show it off. If you...

    Head gates/ squeeze Chutes

I love my Stampede Steel Chute. But I wouldn't recommend getting one now. WW bought them out and they won't stand behind any issues... I needed a piece that the weld had broke on and they told me it wasn't their problem. I bought the chute less than 6 months before WW bought Stampede Steel out.

    Ran over my dog

I have had heelers, kelpies and border collies... I loved every one of them... I have been using Hangin Tree Cowdogs the last few years and really like them. They are tougher than bc and will work all day long. There's a lady in MO that raises them and sells trained or started dogs.. Look...

    yearling bulls

These ain't the same ole Charolais your grandad ran. I just sold my purebred Charolais heifer bull. Never got a calf that weighed over 72# at birth. The Charolais breeder have made great improvements in the past 20 years. You have to buy the right bull. There are genetics in every breed that...

    Embryo Transplant

Buy proven bloodlines... Don't chase fads.... Ask the breeder that you buy them embryos from if he will buy your bull calves, if you don't want them.... If he won't, then I'd think about buying from someone else. If he won't buy them then they may not be the best.... If I was to start over...

    How much mineral access?

I usually put out a mineral with less Phos during good green times... Say like a 7.5%, so the cows will get the trace minerals they need... It's been my practice for a while.. In the winter or dormant grass time, we go back to the 12% Phos....

    Charolais bull questions

Charolais bulls will add pounds at weaning. The char x calves also feed out fast and convert feed to pounds better than most other breeds. They will also grade well. There are good and bad in every breed. Charolais have taken BW's down over the past 15 - 20 years. Most of our bull calves...

    Butchering A Bull

I'm pretty sure our ultra sound tech told me that after a bull turns one year old, all the marbling starts turning to red meat. We just put down a three year old bull and had to make hamburger out of him. We had to add fat to the meat because it was to lean. I would choose another animal to eat.

    Great articles, hay/drought

Those still look better than my tanks. It's pretty easy for you to sit in TN and watch your grass grow and tell us that we mismanaged our resources. I've had 7" of rain this year. 6" of that was in the first quarter. So there has been no chance for the grass to grow.

    Warts

I was helping a guy a while back that had some warts on some heifers. He told me we were going to cut some of them off and feed it to them. We took a scaple and cut 4 or 5 off and used a bolis gun to feed them to the heifers. Within a few weeks the warts started drying up. I wouldn't have...
