    What is this?

img]http://ranchers.net/photopost/data/500/medium/new_plant.jpg[/img] What is this? The cows seem to like it. I was going to bush hog it but with not knowing how long we will have grass anything the cows eat is staying.

    Cow raising twins

The only reason I am waiting until October is because that's when my main brahman herd is put with a bull. She got bred in July on accident last year.

    Cow raising twins

I perfectly understand. I'm not going to market a bull if he is a runt. But this bull calf is one of the best built brahman calves I have raised. He is only 5 days old and shows lots of potential. He is very wide across his back. and has a nice build. Too soon to tell about how he will be...

    Cow raising twins

This is in response to my post about my cow having twins. If I am able to get the cow to accept both I know she will need extra attention in order to raise the calves properly. If i give the cow extra feed, plus good grass, mineral, and salt, would she be able to raise the calves to a normal...

    JOhnson Grass

I have been looking at hay to buy since we came up short this year. I found someone who had decent priced hay but it was Johnson grass. Is Johnson Grass hay safe for cows and calves to eat?

    Corn Stalk Hay

I already use the stuff. The percentage accuration I get is about $500 a ton. It has fish oil in it so it stinks a little but not nasty to work with. Its a solid not a liquid. It increases forage intake.

    Raising/Breeding.

Brahman calves and calves in genral can have as much protein as they want. 12% is usually the best 14% is ok but i wouldnt go higher then that. Adult brahman cows do not need any feed(grain, cubes etc.) with over 12% protein. It can founder them. Protein tubs or supplilements like that are ok...

    Raising/Breeding.

I am a just getting started in the Brahman breed. Breed Brahman heifers at 18-24 months. Some people in the board may not agree but all the big name Brahman breeders breed heifers at that age. I vaccinate at weaning. Find a good vet he will tell you what to vaccinate them with. Email a big...

    cattle losing condition

Holding them off the little bits of green grass or not is my dilema as well. I looked at it from this point of view: If we get a good rain the green grass may shoot up, but knock on wood if we don't then that green grass will die. So wouldn't it be more benificial for the cows to eat a little...
