Rice and Rice stubble hay

Has anybody ever fed rice hay or rice stubble hay?
Will cows eat the stuff?
What is the nutritional value of it ?
What supplement if any should be given?

I bought some as reserve to what coastal hay I still have. First time I put it out, the cows showed no interest. When they figured out they weren't going to get anything else and got hungry enough, they ate it. I mix powdered molasses with water and pour over it, and they will eat it. One of my neighbors says his cows like it fine, and I was "told" that Louisiana cows (where the hay came from) eat it all the time. Since it only tests out to about 5% protein, I just use it as filler and feed cubes twice a week.

Plan on supplementing with it. It is a rib stretcher / filler.

By "rice hay" are you referring to "rice straw"? (The stalk after the grain has been removed ) or "rice hay" harvested with the grain still on the stalk?
