    Longhorn Skull & Horns Advice

I did a horned Hereford bull by driving a t-post beside an ant pile, laying the head on top of the mound and wiring the head to the t-post. That keeps coyotes and/or dogs from dragging the head away. Ants do a good job of cleaning it up. Probably works better in the summer time.

I lived in South Carolina for a few years long time ago. Belonged to a Corvette club called the Dixie Vettes. Some of the guys told the story of a local who bought a '63 split window coupe. He was so unhappy about the split rear window he took it to a body shop and had it taken out. Now, a '63...

Wow. Mine came with a loan from the bank and a payment book. The '66 went to a collector in Dallas. The '70 went to a guy in Vancouver, WA. He had it painted red. I thought I'd die. The '82 was traded for 10 bred heifers. I couldn't hardly give it away.

Greybeard-later on I had a '66 Corvette convertible. Both tops. 426 big block turning 515 hp. Then a 1970 LT-1 Corvette convertible. Silver with black leather interior. 350 small block turning 375 from the factory. Last one was an 82 T-top that wasn't anything special. My Dad said almost the...

My first car was a 1965 Ford Galaxy 500, 2.door hardtop. Automatic. 350hp. White with blue cloth interior. Wrapped it around a couple of fence posts and a bunch of barbed wire on rainy night. Until then, I wasn't familiar with the term hydroplaning.

I'm your Huckleberry. What would you like to know? As I write this, I'm waiting to hear from my.lawyer to know whether I'm headed to court with my brother. I was supposed to have had an answer Friday. It didn't come. Our farm division started in 2008 and is still on-going. Someone on CT said...

    If Single and Have Much

I spent the majority of my life on the farm. Brother & I bought land together. I watched the cow herd and pastures, he did the farming end of it. My grandparents left their land in a Trust that named us 3 kids-their only grandkids- as beneficiaries. My parents followed suit and put their land in...

Something interesting I experienced and have read about it also. A persons personality intensifies as we get closer to our death. My Mom was a difficult person. As her time came to an end, she didn't change, but became much more difficult. It was hard on my Dad because he thought he was doing...

    Getting close to home

Early news reports on the Colorado heifers said the local sheriff called Wooten around 9pm and told him there were cattle being moved. He didn't go check because he thought his were far enough away it couldn't be his. That was where I got the 4 miles. Wooten said when the call came, he didn't...

    Getting close to home

A couple of months ago there was a big group of bred heifers stolen at Aurora, Colorado. They were walked out of their pasture, moved down the road and loaded out at an arena about 4 miles away. Supposedly by a lone rider on horseback. Then the story changed to several riders. When I watched a...

I put my registered brand on the left shoulder and a number designating their birth year on the left hip. This year, the heifers will have an 18 on their hip. I don't do their in-herd number because I don't have the extra help. I try to make the freeze brands unique. It's self-defense against a...

I switched to LN because of what you said. A local grocery store sells dry ice for $2.99 a pound. I've been all set to brand and they were out. I found a couple of LN tanks through my ABS rep. He knew these tanks were close to failing. I bought them for like $20 apiece. They'll hold for awhile...

Misery loves company. I backed my Jeep into my pickup two weeks ago. Not paying attention. The tailgate opens and closes just fine on the jeep and it's impossible to hurt my cannonball bale bed but I sure felt stupid. Sorry about yours. Question on your freeze branding? Did you use liquid...

Reading these excellent replies, I think about the people around me who have unexpectedly lost a loved one. The only advice I can offer is, don't make hasty decisions. Keep your life as routine as possible until answers are clear. Find a support group. A good friend lost his wife in a car...
