    Natural weaning

Everything is fine with the calf and I put him back with his momma last night as she started bawling for him. He ran to her and started drinking immediately. My wife said their was a calf that snuck through the fence into a clover and grass field and I think he overate that night.

    Natural weaning

I had a calf born in early April. Yesterday he was seperated by himself from the rest of the herd. I brought him in because I thought he was sick. He was placed ina a pen with some bottle calves I have and started eating grain and hay with them. He didn't fuss at all nor did his Momma...

    Cow having enough milk

I have a Limo that had her calf a week ago. She never sprung up and her udder looks like a dish rag. The day after it looked as though she had some milk, but the calf was knocking on death's door and had scours so I tubed fed it some electrolytes and some medicated milk replacer for two...

    Update on Mr. Hatchett Butt

I thought that bull had a white face or was that another post. If not, he looks good.

    Purebred Vs. Crosses

I run a registered angus bull on my herd and breed on natural heats. I am having trouble only with the purebred heifers.

    Purebred Vs. Crosses

I am looking for input on why I have such a hard time getting my purebred limos bred. The crosses were all bred on what would have been there first or second cycle after the bull was put to them. My vet said something about purebred breeders are focusing on things other than reproductive...

    Brown Swiss

I have some herf/jersey crosses that I breed to an angus bull. The calves are anywhere from 50 -75 lbs heavier than my herf/ angus and limangus calves. Must be the extra butterfat in the milk.

    I SAVE YA THE TROUBLE

For a person starting out in the cattle business, it's best to get your feet wet before you jump in. I think all on this board can attest to this. Personally, I started off buying a few bred commercial heifers and some open heifers. I bred them to good bulls and now I have a well balanced...

    Canadian Cattle Exports

I'm not trying to pick fights here. And yes it is my opinion about the Canadian cattle. I don't know what will happen. It's a guess. I sold mine and got decent money for them. That's all I know. The market has softened a bit since then. You asked what mistake you made and I said not...

    Canadian Cattle Exports

The mistake you made was not selling them.

    Canadian Cattle Exports

How did you make out selling them?

    Canadian Cattle Exports

If you didnt sell most of your calves you were kind of foolish. With prices of 1.20- 1.30 for feeder calves it makes it hard not to sell. Keep your best ones only.

Good talking to you. Best wishes for a prosperous future.

    Canadian Cattle Exports

You are correct, but it would still cause an over abundance of cattle which would lower prices. I am not arguing against Canadian beef. I would much rather have your exports than South American or Austrailian.

    Canadian Cattle Exports

Probably enough to flood the market here. I am not saying we should not take in Canadian beef. I am saying our strongest prices came when Canadian exports were stopped to the US. What have you guys been doing with your cattle for the last 18 months or so. From what I've heard if you sell...

    Canadian Cattle Exports

I am concerned because there will be an abundance of cattle. It about supply and demand. If there is an overabundance of cattle flooding the market, the prices will drop drastically. Are you willing to go back to the low prices of a few years back. Prices have dropped a bit, but they have...

    Canadian Cattle Exports

Just saw the news this morning on Bush's trip to Canada. I hope he doesn't give in and accept catttle into the US. Just imagine what that will do to our prices. If we must mend fences I feel they should only allow certain numbers to keep our prices here stable. Just a thought. No offense to...
