    Charolais Bull

Not trying to start another crazy limo thread but they do tend to throw solid colored calves, and meaty. You could wind up with a field full of crazy limo crossbreeds with pointy horns! hillbilly

    Changed breed of cattle?

We sold in May of '05. Leased our farm for 1 year. We will get it back April of '06. We are not hoping for a crash, we would like to see it stay strong and even grow. America grows great eating beef now. I believe that has a great deal to do with the growing demand for our product. I know Dr...

    Changed breed of cattle?

We opted for the chuck them all method. Feeding those big cows while raising smaller calves seemed worse. We got big money for our herd thinking the market couldn't hold that high for long...wrong. Somtimes you need a change or fresh start. hillbilly

    HatCreekFan's Limi Bull

Earlier in this post folks were complaining about the black cattle of red breeds being inferior to their red counterparts. I'm supprised the Angus guys didn't speak up. It is true and they cost alot more too. I am starting over and I'm going RED this time. I'm tired of over paying for black...

    Big Ranches

Nailed it! One of the possible reasons a big guy got big was that he was concerned about the product he was producing... Slowly his reputation grew as a quality producer, the value of his few bulls per year grew and he was able to grow himself. If you are impressed by a big opperations spread...

Marbling - Too much of a good thing?

Breeds of cattle are like nationalities of people. They have simular traits, but the are very divers. You could find practical twins of different breeds & find polar opposites within the same breed. I'm not an Angus breeder but I'm glad they are around. "some" Angus breeders try harder...

    Simiangus quality?

I have a neighbor that raises his own bulls, He has six good cows that he takes over to our local vet every spring and has them AI'ed to good bulls. They aren't regestered cows, just dang good ones. He says he averages about $110 each in vet bills per cow. He has been doing it for about 10...

    Simiangus quality?

Cypress, It sounds like you have a good plan to me, With brangus cows I think it would be a great cross for you. As mentioned earlier, make sure "mom or dad" didn't have a 100# + BW. Here in SW Mo. they dock brangus but I like a little influance, not for heat or bugs but for longevety. Sorry...
