    A selection of cows....

I don't know the why of it....I believe the current registration guidelines still require horned animals to be dehorned. If you see an ASA registration number that is not preceeded by an X it is a horned animal. (A preceeding asterisk indicates a some percentage of other genetics, usually Maine...

    A selection of cows....

I like the Shadybrook Scotty daughter....I have some semen in the tank, just haven't used it yet. It's nice to see a daughter out of him. In regards to horned shorthorns....there are a lot around, you just see them de-horned since that is what the association requires.

    Some of our girls

Well Joy....what are we supposed to do when all the information we have is a picture and the person that posted the picture says "what do you think". I assume that means they want feedback good or bad.

Yearling RA bull pics for review

I'll try and answer several questions. His sire is Affirmed (cherokee canyon x logan) and his dam is a straight bjr pedigree out of make my day. He weighed 73 at birth and 585 at weaning. I'll have yearling weight next week.

    2006 Royal Winter Fair Shorthorns

Really like the cow. Raise a few shorthorns and I would love to have a cow with her shape, frame and udder structure. How is the cow bred....and on the bull "not so much"

    BJR RA Herd Bulls

Lonkers is the place to find semen on the old BJR sires. The have info on their website. I think they purchased most if not all of the semen inventory at the BJR dispersal. I've purchased semen on several old BJR sires including 5112-23L and Yogo from them. Nice people and a nice program. Just...

    Bone - "fine" vs. "big"???

I think generally speaking most people just like the way heavier boned cattle look vs. finer boned animals. They just seem to catch your eye more, especially as a calf. However I will say more bone = more birthweight.

    Red Angus Pictures

Dun, I understand your sentiments about the gene pool. We've been at the Shorthorn deal for about 13 years and I still get frustrated at times. However people are working on it. I beleive there is a place for good clean SH genetics and the breeders that are reputable and reliable will benefit in...

    Durham Red photos

Thanks for the comments. We are really happy with them. They all were born in April. All of them are out of registered shorthorn cows and a R. A. bull. (Lancer son for those RA breeders that might want to know) They are all out of first calf heifers so I think that makes them even more impressive.

    Red Angus Pictures

All the calves under our Durham Red photos are out of a RA bull and shorthorn cows. We like the red angus for lower birth weights, moderate frame, fleshing ability and maintaning body weight.
