    Age of herd bull

In our commercial herd we keep a bull until we have a better one to replace him with. Generally, if we like a bull enough to sell him private treaty and feel like we have enough daughters to let him go, we will move them when they are around 4-5. Any older than that and I feel like there's not...

    Beefmaster Bulls

FWIW, your pictures will look a LOT better if you take a 3/4 from behind instead of in front.

    Brangus AI bull

We don't have any daughters in production yet, but we have been using 607L11 and Final Cut a lot the last couple of years. L11 is a legend in the breed as far as making cows. Final Cut isn't the greatest in maternal calving ease, but most of the calves we have by him have been very growthy but...

What to look for when buying Brahman

The Brahman steers whipped the "Simms" and "Simbrahs" in the Houston carcass contest. About even with most other breeds. Champion carcass was an American. Average Prime and YG 2, sired by a Brangus bull. Brahman influenced cattle can grade.

Please tell and show me your xbred Char cow experiences.

I hate them. But most Charolais around here are sorry and mean, so take it with a grain of salt.

    Thoughts on this Bull?

I think you are going in the right direction. We have two polled bulls we've been using on our Brangus for the last 2 years and I think that's the best outcross you can make with them. I would pay particular attention to bone when you pick out a bull. That's one thing that most Brangus cows...

    Thoughts on this Bull?

He's got some good pieces and nice type, but looking at his structure I wouldn't be surprised if he struggled a bit on his front end. I would have to see him walk before I made my mind up. 1350 at 14 months, he sure was pushed hard for a bull with no papers. Has he had him on a self feeder??

    Picture advice please!

Morning or afternoon, and a flash is supposed to help. Mine usually come out pretty good without a flash, but I use a pretty nice camera. Nice bull.

    Anyone Looking for Wagyus?

A good Wagyu looks about like a nice Angus heifer bull. We are getting one soon for our heifers and are pretty excited about it.

    Opinion on this yearling bull?

No bone, no muscle, no masculinity, no EAR. I'd keep looking if you were wanting something that actually looks like a good Brahman.

    Herf question

Baloney. We've been using a couple Polled Hereford bulls on our Brangus for 2 years now. No problems to speak of at all, and we've probably had 60+ calves so far out of those bulls. We weighed our spring cows after weaning last year and the herd avgd. 1050, so our cows aren't real big either...

    Wagyu f1 using black angus

We will be buying a fullblood bull this year to use on our heifers. The calving ease of the BLACKS is about like using a Corriente, with carcass quality that is second to none. The breeder is close to us, and we'll more than likely be selling calves back to him that we don't keep ourselves...

    Black Baldy Question

Yes, you can get a homozygous black Black Hereford. The red gene is recessive to Black. It's impossible to tell if they aren't DNA tested, since the black hides the red. If you took two animals that were black, but carried red, and bred them together, theoretically you would have a 25% chance...

    MaineXBrangus

Ours are sired by a Cunia grandson. I'd guess they weigh about 1150 when they're fat.

    MaineXBrangus

We have a handful of Maine x Angus cows left over from our first attempt at making show steers. They hoof it with the rest of the herd herd on the Gulf Coast and never miss. I think they are 10 now. We obviously have been breeding them to our Brangus bulls for years and sometimes their calves...

Nice heifer, good luck with her!

    Shorthorn Bull - Thoughts

I don't think so. He's really nice, especially for $1600. Only risk would be if he doesn't pass a semen test, but I think with some feed he'll really bloom.

    Opinions on this steer?

Depends on how successful you want to be, and what your level of competition is. To be a "good" steer, impo he needs more bone, a LOT more muscle, more style, and more body. He also looks cow hocked and pretty narrow based. He's out of a nice cow, but to me he just looks like a nice feeder.
