Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

It's just easier for people to get what breed she is if I say she is a Lim-Flex. Her mom is a club calf, but would be a Lim-Flex if she was registered with NAL. The owners just registered her with Texas Club Calf Association instead just to show in youth shows.

Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

Her sire is a LimFlex and is registered with some association. Her mom is a registered club calf. I just haven't tried to keep up with the breed association since this calf will also be registered only as a club calf.

Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

Her parents aren't registered with Limousin. She is a club calf. Thanks guys! She is as red as a Hereford right now, but those black points are getting me! I will post pics soon!

Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

My first calf heifer calved a solid red heifer calf back in November. The calf, Dorothy, is now almost 2 months old. She was born just about as bright of red as you can get. Now as she is shedding a little, her muzzle, around her eyes, and her poll all are darker (almost black). Has anyone ever...

Lim-Flex Heifer Calf: 1 hour old

Her sire is a registered Lim-Flex and her mom is 1/2 Limousin 1/4 Angus 1/4 Charolais. So Dorothy is 5/8 Limousin, 1/4 Angus, 1/8 Charolais. If I didn't have that 1/8 Char in her she could be registered as a Lim-Flex. It just makes it easier to tell people she is than have to list off all the...

Lim-Flex Heifer Calf: 1 hour old

Yes she did finally nurse. My heifer didn't have much milk production in her front set of teats, so I had to show Dorothy that there were others behind there. But now she is nursing great! Thank you!

Lim-Flex Heifer Calf: 1 hour old

Wanted to post some pictures of my new born Limousin/Angus/Charolais heifer, Dorothy! From my show heifer, Snooki. Born healthy on 11/12/11! So what do you think? Right now, I am just in love with her little, fuzzy ears ;-) I will post pictures of her as she grows up!

    weaning

Separating the mother and the baby by a fence is how I weaned my foal from her mom and it is also how I plan to wean my calf from my cow once the time comes. All our fences are "horse fence," Red Brand 2" x 4" wire fencing. It worked wonderful for my filly! Hoping it works the same for my calf too!

    What Breed to Cross With?

3waycross: The more current picture of her really does her no justice. When properly set up on nice even ground, her topline looks much nicer. And she is a tad long, so I will definitely choose a more compact bull. I'm starting to think a club calf sire will be the way to go. I'm not very...

    What Breed to Cross With?

redcowsrule33: Her calves will be shown and sold. Her calf this year I will be showing in 4-H and shows in my area. Next year's calf I will be showing in open shows and possibly selling as a 4-H show calf. ALACOWMAN: If I went with an Angus bull, would the calf be registerable? She is only...

    Twins??

Twins are just a problem waiting to happen. I would never try to breed for them.

    What Breed to Cross With?

I have a half Limousin/quarter Angus/quarter Charolais heifer that is due to calve this September. She was bred to a full bred Limousin bull this time. I am trying to decide on what breed of bull I should breed her to next time. She is registered with the TCCA as an AOB heifer. What are the...

    Lim-flex Cattle

That is hilarious!! Here in south Texas, the "Swamp Flex" wouldn't do too well... no rain!!!

    Lim-flex Cattle

Well, I bought her. She is actually from a Lim bull and out of a Angus/Charolais cow. She seems like a really nice heifer. Her full brother won the AOB market steer class at Houston. She herself has won a few classes in southeast Texas. She is bred to a full Lim bull, so her calf will have more...

    Lim-flex Cattle

I would just like any information on this cross. Any health issues? Temperament? Easy calvers? Specific bloodlines that are good? Any information would be very appreciated!
