    Help on a Class Assignment

I really like the foldable flooring idea. You make it. I'll probably buy some! I also remember my dad's lower half hanging through the ceiling into the kitchen after he made a misstep in the attic getting a punch bowl down. Little legs just kicking back and forth. Company at the front...

    Good Morning -18 below

It was up to 11 out today. Felt better than the -2 yesterday. Even saw some fellas in shorts at the hardware store. But, blew the bearings on the furnace motor, so that counts for something. Got it fixed pretty easily. Wind never did blow today and was able to get some stuff done outside...

    Census?

I've never known anyone who filled them out. I used to get them and some my neighbors do. We figure that it's none of their business. Our cattle (or sheep/horses, etc.) are our inventory. We keep track like other businesses, but, like other businesses don't report it to the feds. Tax forms...

    We need MORE gun laws

Is there a college near enough with an agriculture department? I would suggest high school ag... just depends on the youngster. For day work around here, 10/hr for general work and more for skilled and independent workers.

Our Homes in jeopardy, Any lawyers out there?

Wow! I'm with the others. I would continue to contact the State's AG office. I would also check with an attorney (using a free initial consultation visit) to see if you can get the work finish, the frame/damage repaired, and get reimbursed for the extra costs, maybe even time, and any...

Advice needed on common fence issue...

I'm in a fence-out state, too. Sorry he's being such a slacker, and so arrogant. I've only had one that wasn't good about doing their share. This proves the saying I grew up with, "Good fences make good neighbors."

    A Big Pasture

Officially our ground (similar to this) is rated at 50 acres per animal unit (AU). It may vary a bit from place to place, and whether they are running animals year round or just part of the year. mnmtranching -- were you antelope hunting? Ooops, just found the muley pic. Nice buck!

How much do you pay your help?

We pay $7/hr for general labor, and $10/hr for more skilled. More skilled would be someone I can trust to rope and doctor, or who can run machinery independently and do basic maintenance on it. I don't need full time help, so this works okay for the occasional 6 hour day.

    Grass Fed Beef People

The beef I butcher has a stronger taste than what I've had at friends houses. It is also leaner and tougher. I don't even know what is grass-finished is. I'm afraid I may be a bit barbaric. I'm going to have to go learn something.
