Whats safe to spray around the base of trees ?

    1. I sprayed a good dose of 2,4d in a pasture near the house and was careful not to expose any of the tress to the herbicide. Now what can I use to spray around the base of my mature pecan trees that won't hurt them. Mainly targeting briars and broad leave weeds. 2. Would 2,4D kill a tree...

I was told to add dish soap to 2, 4D...?

I understand the reasoning, but no one could give me an accurate amount. I am basically mixing up 2 pints of 2, 4D with 25 G of H2O (per acre)...how much soap to be most effective? Thxs

Thoughts on Pull Behind mower ???

I have a small tractor but it is really slow. I was thinking about buying a tow behind mower that I can pull with rhino or ATV...... Several models have 2-4 blades and cost $1000-1500... They claim to be fast mowing and can be easly adjusted for finish mowing or brush hogging.... Looking for...

    Ranch or Farm.....

Well that all depends on how slow you walk, how fast you drink and if you use straight lines from A to B.

    Ranch or Farm.....

Ok, stupid question, however I told a couple of friends about the property I have under contract. I referred to it as a ranch (116 acres), he argued it was a farm due to the small acreage size. Is he full of it or can you call it whatever? :dunce:

Just mow & fertilize or till.....

Well, just got the results of the soil tests: Recommending: 90-95 lbs of N (Nitrate) per acre 50-60 lbs of P2O5 (Phosphorus) per acre. These are averages of 5 samplings. So do I price this individually or is there a "blend" fertilizer to look for that will have these needs. Only...

Just mow & fertilize or till.....

good avice guys, thanks I would love to burn it, maybe after the heavy rains from the last 2 days they'll lift the ban...ha The property has been abandoned for 15+ years, so weeds are really bad. However, the base costal looks good. Waiting on the soil samples, should be back this week...

Just mow & fertilize or till.....

A property I have under contract has some rough pastures... Basically hogs and lack of care have left large areas very rough and bumpy. Since I don't plan on turning any cows on it till early next spring should I just mow it and fertilize it or should I till the whole thing flat. I don't want...

    Round bales per acre ???

Well, I aint a good mechanic for sure...... :( The 2 adjacent properties are also costal and look to yield a lot of hay. They have hundreds of round bales sitting out in pasture and many more stacked up near the corrals. I just assumed they was an abundance of it due to their overstocking...

    Round bales per acre ???

sounds like there is NO way to offset equipment cost or time spent....might as well just go buy it?

    Round bales per acre ???

I know this is a loaded question & understand this can vary due to density of grass and type, but I was looking for a low and high average. Trying to find a way to justify some addtional land. Second question, what do you normally pay to lease property that you want to harvest grass/hay on...

    Determining Land Value.....

I have a realtor in the family and have spoken to 2 different title companies in my quest to buy a larger parcel of land. 99% of the deals that are closing in this region (and most others) do not include mineral rights. They are very rare to come by- period. The acreage we already have has...

    Determining Land Value.....

He has not listed it with an agent as of yet. He has had 2 realtors come out, and based on their advice he thinks its worth $4800 per acre. He is willing to sell it to me for $4200 without using realtors. I don't beleive the land is worth more than $3500 since 98% of it is in flood planes...

    Determining Land Value.....

This may be off topic, but I am trying to put a value on a piece of property that I am interested in purchasing and putting cattle on. I have had several real estate agents pull comps of the area, however nothing is within a 10 mile radius or has the same issues (flood plane, high voltage power...
