    Overseeding bermuda

I had a similar situation with mesquite. I ended up foam filling the front tractor tires, the rear tires don't seem to be affected by the thorns. My experience with seeding bermuda grass is it needs to be drilled 1 - 2" deep. If it were me I would hand spread a bluestem or Kleingrass. They...

Best way to accumulate land for cattle.

I purchased 50 acres with 20% down payment financed by Texas Capital Farm Credit. The transaction could not have been easier. I also purchased heifers financed by Capital Farm Credit. They wrote me a check and drove out and looked at them a month later. One day I was pissed off at work and...

    Weed wiper

run cows out there a couple times and the Johnsongrass will disappear. Pastora will kill Johnsongrass along with a bunch of other stuff and has residual. Can't be used on freshly sprigged bermuda and kills bluestem. Outrider will kill only sedge and Johnsongrass and has no residual. Can be...

    Seeding farm ground to grass

I have seeded ww-b Dahl, Klein, cowboy bermuda blend, and sprigged Jiggs bermuda. The B-Dahl is amazing stuff. 20 acres of it fed a 25 head herd May - August this summer with only 100#/acre of 20-10-10. From my experience it takes 2 full years before its really a productive field. I have...

Good luck with your sprigging. I sprigged Jiggs with pitch forks and a disc this spring and it's looking real good so far. I got real lucky and it rained 3/4 inch labor day weekend and 1 3/4 two Friday's ago,

New pasture - bale or leave alone?

I sprigged a new pasture this spring with Jiggs bermuda. I put out fertilizer per soil sample for establishment in February. Its looking good and I could bale it early October or just leave it alone until next Spring. Luckily I don't have to have the hay this year. All the other pastures were...

    Grass planting with no tilling

do you have bare dirt or plant residue on the ground? I planted some Cowboy bermuda earlier this year with a drill. When done there was extra seed in the seed box so I just through it out by hand. Where I did that it looks better than where I drilled it, but the ground was bare.
