    Steer Prospect

Good self advice! I hate to do that though, because I appreciate the help the farm has did for us and I like to help them promote their sale. Next time I will not tell which specific animal I am going to try to buy. I would not get mad if I told them about the sale and by coincidence we ended...

    Steer Prospect

I have learned that, when I tell someone what happened it is always about how bad the person was to do it. When the wife tells someone about the steer it is always about how stupid I was to buy it anyway. Two different perspectives on the days event..... Might have to continue the...

    Steer Prospect

unethical is how I viewed it. One good thing that did come out of it is I got the chance to teach my kids how not to treat people! Not really sure I want to put the persons name out there in public, but after looking back at the thread I noticed Jovid asked me who was having the sale. I wanted...

    Steer Prospect

Well I bought him. I think he will grow out of the neck and it really was not as bad looking in person. He was cut a little late. But buying him was not a pleasant event. Turns out my posting his picture on here, got me a private message. I told this board member all about the sale, gave...

    Steer Prospect

I don't think he is halter broke, so the guy taking the picture just got lucky. I always get impatient and never can get them standing good for photo's Jovid I know what you mean on the color  I am not sure of his pedigree, he is listed at a Private Treaty sale I am going to this...

    County Fair Over II (Pics)

That would be a busy day! We show hogs on Wednesday morning, Beef Breeding classes on Thursday morning and then Market Beef Thursday night. I could not imagine doing all species on one day. I would for sure not get any pictures that then. Good luck to you!

    County Fair Over II (Pics)

Steer stood second in class. Two crossbreed heifers both won their class and the one that we raised ended up Crossbred Reserve Grand Female standing behind the Grand that was an aged cow that has won it the past few years in a row.

    County Fair Over II (Pics)

Out of a week of County fair this is all the pictures I have to show for it :( My daughter took these with video camera that can take pictures also. Our heifers showed back to back in classes and then were both in the grand drive together so me and wife were both busy taking care of a heifer...

    County Fair Over

My family is the worse picture taking family there is. We have lots of video's but hardly no pictures. I did just go through my memory card on my video camera and my daughter took a few of our steer. I will try to post later this weekend. I am also a poor janitor that has a scanner but no usb...

    County Fair Over

Over all it was not to bad of a show, the judge got the ones to the top that should have been there. A few of us might have moved around the top few a little. I think there was a Red Poll that might ought to have been a little higher, you probably know which one I am talking about :?: But...

    Show Heifer Prospect

I am terrible at picking cows with ear, but my first glance at her I like her. She seems deep, with lots of volume and looks pretty powerful. You guys raise her or one you are buying?

    County Fair Over

Well our 2007 County fair is in the record books. Basically it was a middle of the road fair for us. Our Steer stood questionably second in class behind what I thought should have been either Grand or Reserve steer with us getting the other spot. But Judge picked the pretty groomed light weights...

    Update on my show steers!

A 5 gallon bucket of our feed that is 60% corn is about 18 pounds or so. I know a 50 lb bag fills 3 buckets about 3/4 or so. With steers this size and this close to show if they would eat a 50 lb sack of feed a day themselves I would give it to them. Basically meaning feed them all they will...

    Update on my show steers!

Have you wormed them lately? We worm a lot more aggressive with show animals than we do with cows in the field. I would hit him with some wormer just to be safe.

    Update on my show steers!

Purple Ribbons for Grand and Reserve Grand. It looks like you guys have some nice cattle. They might not be super show steers but still nice commercial calves and a lot to be said for raising your own. Next year will be our first year to show a steer off the place, we have showed heifers before...
